How taxes work on OpenRoom
When a Host creates a listing on OpenRoom, the tax configuration works in two layers:
Taxes collected by OpenRoom. In the jurisdictions listed above, the applicable taxes are pre-configured on every listing and cannot be modified by the Host. OpenRoom collects these taxes from guests and remits them directly to the corresponding tax authority on behalf of the Host.
Taxes configured by the Host. In addition to the taxes OpenRoom collects, there may be other taxes that apply to a listing depending on its location and property type. OpenRoom provides suggested tax configurations based on our research, but each Host has full control to adjust, add, or remove these taxes. The Host is solely responsible for ensuring that their tax configuration is accurate and complete. OpenRoom provides the tools — the Host makes the final call.
If you need help with an additional tax configuration that is not available in your settings, contact us at hosts@openroomgroup.com.
